Do you produce the meats that you sell?
No, farming livestock is not our specialty. We work in close collaboration with local farmers. These partnerships are the result of the many years of Marc-André Jetté’s experience and networking as chef-owner of his restaurant, Hoogan and Beaufort.
Where does the meat come from?
All our meat comes from Quebec, the sole exception being certain beef products that come from Prince Edward Island.
What’s more advantageous a box or an individual product?
Buying a box allows you to honour the animal as a whole. When you buy a box rather than an individual product you will also get several different cuts for a lower price.
Can I customize the contents of a box?
No, in order to value the whole animal, the content of the boxes is determined in advance according to the supply.
What is the significance of ‘AAA’?
The term "AAA" comes from a classification based on the quality of the meat. This quality is classified in 4 categories: "A", "AA", "AAA" and "Prime". The more marbled the meat is, the tastier it will be, and the higher it will be classified. Only "AAA" and "Prime" grade products are offered at Édouard & Léo.
What does the term ‘dry-aged’ mean?
There are 3 ways to age meats: open-air, dry-aging and wet-aging. Dry aging is done in the open air by controlling the temperature and humidity level of the environment, which allows the meat to become tender and develop its complex flavour.
How long can I store my meat in the freezer?
It is safe to eat foods that have been frozen for a while if they are stored properly. However, keep in mind that flavour and nutritional value will deteriorate over time. Depending on the product, it is recommended to consume meat within 3 to 6 months following their freezing in order to enjoy them at an optimal quality.
What is the best way to defrost meat?
The safest way to defrost meat is in the refrigerator, 24 hours before eating. Your meat will lose less water and preserve the most of its quality. It is also possible to defrost meat in a cold water bath to speed up the process. However, it is preferable to cook it quickly after defrosting to avoid the development of bacteria.
How long can I store my meat in the refrigerator before eating it?
For an optimal quality of our fresh products, it is preferable to consume or freeze them within 3 to 5 days after reception. For a product that has been defrosted, consumption within 24 to 48 hours following defrosting is recommended.
Do you cut and transform all your meat?
Yes, all the meat cuts as well as the transformation of meat is done by our master butchers and our chefs
Are all your transformed products homemade?
Yes, all of the transformed products, with the exception of charcuteries, are made at our facilities by our butchers and our chefs.
Is your packaging recyclable?
Yes, all our packaging is recyclable.
How do you package your meat?
All our meat is vacuum-packed, also commonly known as ‘sous-vide’.
Is your meat packaged individually?
All of our meats are packaged according to the formats listed on the website. Most products are individually wrapped.
What are the delivery limits?
We deliver in Montreal and surrounding areas
All our deliveries are made according to predetermined time slots. You have the choice between three days of delivery, Tuesday - Wednesday - Thursday - Friday - Saturday, according to two time slots, 14h-17h or 17h-21h.
What are the delivery fees?
15$ delivery fees are applicable on all orders between 25$ and 149,99$. All orders of 150$ and above are delivered free of charge.
Can I send an order as a gift to someone else?
Yes, just mention it in the ‘comments’ section and indicate the delivery address accordingly.
Can I send my order to my place of work?
Yes, as long as the address is within the territory served by our delivery service and that you notify us at least 48 hours in advance in the event of a change of delivery address.
Can someone else pick up my order for me?
Yes, you can send a third party to pick-up your order for you. In that case a proof of sale will be requested at pick-up, so make sure to have it on hand.
What will happen if I cannot be present during scheduled delivery time?
If you are unable to be present during the chosen time-slot, please contact us by phone (514-838-6996) or by email (email@example.com) as soon as possible. In the event that you are not present at the time of delivery and that you do not answer the call of the delivery person, your order will be returned to our premises. An email will be sent to this effect. You will have 48 hours to pick up your order at our facilities or the option of a new delivery at a cost of an additional 15$ depending on the next available delivery time-slot.
What happens if I cannot show up on the scheduled pick-up date?
If you are unable to show up on the scheduled pick-up date, please notify us as soon as possible. Your order will then be put aside for a maximum of 24 hours so that you can pick it up. However, we are not responsible for any loss of freshness caused by this delay. After 24 hours following the pick-up date, the pick-up points are no longer responsible for the order.
What delivery system do you use?
All our deliveries are made via our internal delivery system, with our refrigerated delivery trucks.
Do I need to create an account your website?
You can create an account to facilitate information entry for future purchases, but you are not required to have an account in order to make a purchase.
Is there a minimum amount to place an order?
Yes, a minimum amount of 25$ is required to place an order.
Is there a limit to the number of items that I can purchase?
No, there is no limit to the number of items per order. Keep in mind that different items are available based on stocks.
Do we receive a confirmation email once we place our order online?
Yes, you will receive a confirmation email once you confirm your order and you will receive another email once the order is sent out for delivery.
What do I do if I do not get a confirmation email?
If you have not received a confirmation email, please contact us by email or phone the same day or within 24 hours of your purchase to confirm your order.
Can I cancel my order?
Yes, you can cancel your order. To do so, send us an email or contact us by phone at least 48 hours before the scheduled delivery/ pick-up time.
Can I modify my order after confirming it?
Yes, it is possible to modify your order, as long as it is done at least 24 hours before the scheduled delivery day
Can I choose the delivery day?
You have five options for delivery days: Tuesday - Wednesday - Thursday - Friday - Saturday, as well as two options for delivery time-slots: 14h - 17h or 17h - 21h.
Can I place my order ahead of time?
Yes you can place your order up to 3 weeks ahead of the delivery day.
Which payment methods do you accept?
We accept credit card payment method only.
Will taxes be charged on my order?
Taxes are applied on our ready-to-eat product. However, there are no taxes on meats and products that must be handled or processed by our customers.
